Well, we knew left-handed pitcher Joe Savery was being sent to Lehigh Valley to join the Iron Pigs but did not know who would be taking his spot on the Phillies' active roster. According to a source of Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly, that pitcher will be Brian Sanches.
In the majors this season, Sanches was 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA. In the minors, Sanches was much more effective, going 3-1 with a 2.48 ERA. Despite being effective at AAA, this was not the type of addition Phillies fans hoped for. Sanches probably will be more of the same.
Sanches was outrighted off of the 40-man roster earlier in the season, so they will have to make room for him to join the team. That should be easy as David Herndon and Michael Stutes won't be back this season and are occupying 40-man roster spots. They can simply be moved to the 60-day disabled list to make room.
