The father of a 2008 Philadelphia Phillies World Series champion — Shane Victorino — now has municipal jurisdiction as mayor over the over the islands of Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui and Molokai, encompassing the Aloha State's County of Maui.
Last Wednesday, January 2, Mike Victorino took the oath of office, beside his wife Joycelyn, before 2nd Circuit Chief Judge Joseph Cardoza. Shane posted a family picture from after the swearing in on Instagram (picture shown above), with the following caption:

“I’ve said it many times, and I’ll say it again: It’s not about me; it’s about we, the people,” Mike Victorino told Maui Now. “We’re here to serve the people. My administration, if nothing else, will be known for being a customer-service-oriented government.”
Two former Phillies recently inked deals to play in New York for the 2019 season — southpaw Luis Avilan with the New York Mets, and right-hander Drew Hutchison with the New York Yankees.
Both Avilan's and Hutchison's deals are minor-league pacts with spring training invites, according to Michael Baron and Mark Feinsand.
Avilan, 29, appeared in 12 games with the Phillies this past season, after being acquired in late August for minor-leaguer Felix Paulino. The seven-year veteran posted a 3.18 ERA over 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, one home run, and four walks while striking out five batters.
Hutchison, 28, appeared in 11 relief outings this past season, posting a 4.64 ERA over 21 1 /3 innings with 11 runs allowed and a 19-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The five-year veteran elected free agency in early June after the Phillies designated him for assignment on May 31 in favor of right-hander Mark Leiter.
