As expected, the Philadelphia Phillies officially announced this afternoon that they have re-called left-handed starter Adam Morgan to join the starting rotation. Reliever Luis Garcia will be sent to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move.
#Phillies have optioned RHP Luis Garcia to Lehigh Valley (AAA) and recalled LHP Adam Morgan. Morgan will start tonight vs Cleveland.

Morgan, who will pitch in tonight's series opener against the Cleveland Indians, went 5-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 15 starts at the major league level in 2015. Morgan lost the battle for the fifth starter spot in the rotation during Spring Training to Vince Velasquez, despite going 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA nine innings pitched.
Morgan will replace Charlie Morton in the rotation, after Morton suffered a season-ending torn hamstring in last Saturday's win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
