Phillies Open a Home and Home Against the Blue Jays

Yesterday, the Phillies took the series win against the Washington Nationals as Roberto Hernandez went 7.1 innings in the 1-0 Phillies win. Tonight, the Phillies start a home and home series against the Toronto Blue Jays. This is the second AL team the Phillies have played this season since opening up the season against the Texas Rangers. For the Phillies, Kyle Kendrick will make the start. Kendrick on the season is 0-2 with a 3.52 ERA. The Blue Jays will counter with former Phillie J.A. Happ. Happ was part of the trade that sent Roy Oswalt the Phillies in 2010. Happ was major part of the Phillies in 2009 when he went 12-4 with a 2.93 ERA. This year Happ did not make the starting rotation for the Blue Jays and has seen time in the pen. With the injury to Brandon Morrow, Happ was pushed up into the rotation. He currently is 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA in 4.1 innings pitched.

Game Notes:

  • Cody Asche, Domonic Brown, and Jimmy Rollins  will all sit tonight to start the game. Jimmy Rollins yesterday had some back issues, but remained in the game.
  • Tommy Joseph returned the Reading after another concussion scare. In his second game back he went 3-4 with his fifth home run of the season.
