During his five games with Clearwater, Asche hit .167 (3-for-18) with a homer, two RBI's, two runs scored, a walk and six strikeouts.
A healthy Cody Asche could mean a better offensive option in the outfield and maybe even the infield at times for the Phillies. Although he primarily played third for the Phillies, last season he converted to the outfield so Maikel Franco would get every day playing time. With the exception of Andres Blanco, the Phillies resrrves have not been good. Emmuanuel Burriss is hitting .129, Peter Bourjos, who starts the majority of the time in right, is hitting .193 and David Lough is at .224. When Asche returns, Lough would be the likely candidate to get demoted.
He'll join a first-place Reading team that is scheduled to play a double-header on Sunday. In game one, Asche is batting second, playing left field.
