Many have speculated on Kyle Kendrick's status with the Phillies for 2014.  Kendrick has one more year of salary arbitration remaining before he reaches free agency.  Some worried about how much money that contract could command through the arbitration process.   But Kendrick is under the Phillies' control, if they wish to pay him.  And it appears they are willing, according to CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury:

The team will offer pitcher Kyle Kendrick a contract for 2014.

“Yes,” general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said when asked the question Saturday evening. “I don’t know why people are asking about that. We will.”

You will?

“Yeah,” Amaro said.

Some speculated that Kendrick could receive as much as $8 million or $9 million in salary arbitration.  If the team and Kendrick could certainly agree on a contract prior to heading to an arbiter.

Yesterday, Ryne Sandberg told MLB.com's Todd Zolecki that he had hoped to have Kendrick back next year.   Kendrick was 10-13 with 4.30 ERA in 2013.
