The Phillies had a near-major league prospect in left-handed starter Adam Morgan. That is, until he tore his rotator cuff in May, 2013. After missing a couple months with that injury, Morgan made only 16 starts in 2013 before being shut down for all of 2014. Finally, Morgan is on the mend.
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb reports that Morgan will appear in the Arizona Fall League as he comes back from his injury:
Morgan was added to the Scottsdale Scorpions roster Wednesday, the league announced. He underwent shoulder surgery last January and spent the season on rehab in Florida.
That process graduated to game action in instructional league a few weeks ago. But the prospect-laden Arizona Fall League will offer Morgan a better test of his current state.
In all, seven Phillies will be on the Scottsdale Scorpions roster. He will be joined by speedy outfielder Roman Quinn. Quinn missed time with an achillies injury and is making up for lost time.
