The Arizona Fall League held their annual Fall Stars Game last night, which gives baseball fans a nice quick dose of post World Series baseball and a look at various prospects in the game in All Star fashion. Representing the Phillies in this contest were Andrew Knapp and Edubray Ramos.
Andrew Knapp played the final four innings of last night's game at first base. Knapp did not fare so well in his two plate appearances, striking out twice. It hasn't been the most productive Fall for Knapp. He has a batting line of .226/.390/.323 for the Glendale Desert Dogs but played himself into the conversation of the Phillies' future when he was promoted to Reading during this past season where he hit .360/.419/.631 which helped earn him the Paul Owens Award.
Edubray Ramos made a better real time impression, striking out the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the 9th before being relieved for the final out. Ramos got shelled in his last outing for Glendale, leaving him with an ugly 9.45 ERA but has kept batters off the boards for most of his outings and has not allowed any walks which is always a great sign.
Ramos had himself a breakout campaign as well in '15 between Clearwater and Reading, posting a 2.07 ERA and 0.92 WHIP between the two levels. Ramos and fellow Glendale invitee Tom Windle both appear to have worked themselves into the future Phillies relievers picture.
Sadly, Glendale is not featured among the scheduled broadcasts for the Arizona Fall League, unless they catch the Surprise Saguaros (they are currently three games back) and end up in the Championship game on November 21.
