Following the injury to Andres Blanco in Sunday afternoon's game against the Pirates, the Phillies added an infielder while also making a number or moves within their minor league system to account for the loss of their veteran utility man at the big league level. Taylor Featherston will join the Phillies in Miami.

Featherston, 26, was hitting .264 in Triple-A and was tied for the Ironpigs team lead in home runs with 12. His average was up to .280 on July 15, but he has been slumping over his last six games. He hit .162 in 101 games for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2015.

With Featherston moving to the Phillies, Jesmuel Valentin has been promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he'll join rehabbing outfielder Aaron Altherr as well. Valentin, 22, hit .276 with 17 doubles, five triples, five homers, 38 RBI's and 59 runs scored this season with Double-A Reading. He was one of the handful of Reading players to be named a Mid-Season All-Star in the Eastern League.

Altherr will continue his rehab assignment in Lehigh Valley after slashing .353/.511/.471 with a double, home run, five RBI's and 10 runs scored in 11 games between the GCL, Advanced 'A' Clearwater and Double-A Reading.

Heading to Reading from Clearwater is 11th ranked prospect Scott Kingery. The 22-year-old second baseman, drafted by the Phillies in the second round of 2015, was hitting .293 with 29 doubles, three homers, 28 RBI's, 60 runs scored and 26 steals in 94 games this season with the Threshers. Over his last 10, he is hitting .341 (15-for-44) with two doubles, a triple, eight runs scored and five RBI's.

Jimmy Cordero is also en route to Reading after spending some time in the GCL and with Clearwater on the road back from a shoulder injury. In 12.2 innings between those levels this season, Cordero is 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA, striking out 12 and walking seven.

In somewhat unrelated news, reliever Daniel Stumpf, who was a Rule-5 selection for the Phillies, cleared waivers and has been returned to the Royals and sent to Triple-A Omaha.
