A quick Delmon Young update: He has been released by the Phillies, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki:
Delmon Young refused assignment to Triple-A. He has been released.

Young was designated for assignment last week to make room on the Phillies' roster for outfielder Casper Wells. The Phillies had 10 days to trade, reassign, or release Young. As a Major League Baseball veteran, Young had the right to forgo an assignment to the minor leagues and as a result is now a free agent.
An American League team looking for a designated hitter might take a chance on Delmon Young. The Texas Rangers lost both designated hitter Lance Berkman and outfielder Nelson Cruz to a PED suspension, and have so far only replaced Cruz with a trade for Alex Rios. The Rangers had signed Manny Ramirez for potential designated hitter help, but Ramirez was released after batting .259 in AAA.
