The Phillies added a number of minor league free agents prior to the 2016, looking to build depth in the system. One of them was left-handed pitcher Bobby LaFromboise, formerly of the Pittsburgh Pirates. LaFromboise put together a strong Spring Training with the Phillies, pitching to just a 1.08 earned run averages in eight appearances. LaFromboise did not make the team and headed down to the
Stephen Gross of the Allentown Morning Call confirmed an earlier report from Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish that the Phillies parted ways with the lefty. At AAA Lehigh Valley the left-hander pitched to a 1-3 record and a 5.94 earned run average in just 13 appearances. The Phillies gave LaFromboise his outright release.
Mario Hollands, who just completed a rehab assignment for the Phillies, will take LaFromboise's spot in the IronPigs bullpen.
