Phillies Reliever Mike Adams Likely Headed To The Disabled List

We knew that Phillies reliever Mike Adams wasn't feeling so hot.  But now it appears that Adams is headed to the disabled list.  According to MLB.com Phillies writer Todd Zolecki, Ruben Amaro Jr. indicated that it was a "likelihood" that Adams would head to the disabled list.    However, the decision has not officially been made.

The Phillies are still carrying eight relievers, but that will change come Tuesday when the Phillies need a fifth starter once again.  Zolecki pointed out that Adams' roster spot could go to Cloyd, who will probably start on Tuesday in Miami.

Adams has not pitched since May 10, so the Phillies can back-date his disabled list stint to that day.   That way, Adams could come back as soon as May 26 should he be ready to pitch again.  In the interim, B.J. Rosenberg will occupy a roster space.  Justin De Fratus, originally the extra arm added, likely is not going anywhere thanks to two strong performances in key situations.
