The San Francisco Giants remain interested in Philadelphia Phillies closer Jeanmar Gomez, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.
Among the relievers that the Giants have discussed: The Phillies' Jeanmar Gomez, Milwaukee's Jeremy Jeffress.

Olney's ESPN colleague Jerry Crasnick had previously noted that the Giants were 'blanketing the reliever market,' with Gomez and David Hernandez two relievers in the league that the team had scouted.
Gomez, 28, is in the midst of a career year, having saved 26 of 29 attempts while posting a 2.70 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. A season ago, Gomez appeared in 65 games for the Phillies and posted a 3.01 ERA. While the fact that he can close probably makes him a little more intriguing to potential contenders, he would probably be unlikely to usurp Santiago Casilla as the Giants closer. That said, adding him into a bullpen that has playoff-tested arms like Sergio Romo and Javier Lopez would improve the Giants.
While the Phillies certainly don't need to give Gomez away — especially when you consider that he's under team control for another season — it's fair to wonder if his value will ever be higher. At this moment, Gomez presumably will be the team's closer to open the 2017 season, though if there's any thought of potentially giving Hector Neris or Edubray Ramos a look at closer, the rest of this season might be a nice audition.
