The Phillies have been getting very little offense from their outfield, with the exception of Odubel Herrera, who's heated up nicely as of late. Meanwhile, Cedric Hunter is hitting just .088 (3-for-34), Tyler Goeddel is hitting .077 (1-for-13) and veteran outfielder Peter Bourjos is batting .189 (7-for-37). Combined, they've struck out 13 more times than gotten hits this season. The team has decided its time to make a change. Cedric Hunter, who impressed manager Pete Mackanin this spring, has been sent to Triple-A. David Lough will join the big league club.

Phillies left fielders have a combined .248 OPS, easily last in MLB, per Todd Zolecki, and the Phillies started Darin Ruf in left this weekend against the Nationals, in hopes of getting more offense.

Cedric Hunter hit .262 in Spring Training and showed the Phillies some power with five doubles, a triple and three home runs. He was the teams' Opening Day starter in left, but will head back to the Triple-A level after hitting just .088 in 13 games for Philadelphia. Hunter has played 448 games at Triple-A between multiple organizations.

Meanwhile, David Lough will join the Phillies, and hit seventh tonight against the Mets, after playing six games in Lehigh Valley this season. The 30-year-old left-hander went 7-for-25 with the Ironpigs with a double and two RBI's. During Spring Training, Lough was beat out by Cedric Hunter for an outfielder spot on the team after hitting .256 with two doubles, a home run, 10 walks and five RBI's. The Phillies signed Lough to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training back on January 25th.

The Phillies begin a three-game series against the Mets tonight at 7:05pm. Philadelphia took two out of three from New York earlier this month. Jerad Eickhoff (1-0, 1.50) will be on the mound for the Phils  in the series opener while Noah Syndergaard (1-0, 0.69) gets the nod for the Mets.
