If he makes the team out of spring training, his salary will be $1.25 million.
Burnett, 34, is a nine-year Major Leaguer and has spent time with the Pirates, Angels and most recently the Nationals. He appeared in 10 games with Washington during the 2016 season, his first action in the bigs since 2014, allowing two earned runs in 5.2 innings of work. Burnett jumped around last season in the minors, playing with four different Triple-A teams, posting a combined 2.28 ERA, holding opposing hitters to a .218 average.
In 380 career Major League games, Burnett is 15-23 with a 3.52 ERA. As of right now, Adam Morgan, Joely Rodriguez and David Rollins are the only three left-handers on the Phillies 40-man roster that are likely to see time with the big league club, so expect Burnett to have a chance to earn a bullpen spot during spring play.
