The Phillies continued to stock up on low-risk, high reward players today, as they added relief pitcher Jeanmar Gomez, according to many reports including this one from CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury.   Gomez has pitched in the Major Leagues since 2010, when he made his debut with the Cleveland Indians.  Gomez spent 2013 and 2014 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Salisbury's report says that the deal is a minor league deal, so the risk is very little for the Phillies, who have some bullpen spots that are undecided.   The Phillies bullpen currently consists of closer Jonathan Papelbon, right-handed pitchers Kenny Giles and Justin De Fratus, left-handed relievers Mario Hollands and Jake Diekman, and a cast of postential candidates.

The Phillies signed Cesar Jimenez and Elvis Arajuo so far this offseason, both left-handed, and also have right-handed pitchers Hector Neris, Phillippe Aumont, Ethan Martin, and Luis Garcia in the mix.   Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez could go into camp as a starter or reliever, depending on whether or not the Phillies move Cole Hamels or any of their starting pitchers before Spring Training.

Lifetime, Gomez is 19-18 with a 4.41 ERA in 120 games over five seasons.  46 of Gomez's appearances have been starts, but Gomez did not make any in 2014.
