The Philadelphia Phillies signed infielders Pedro Florimon and Hector Gomez to minor league deals that include spring training invites on Monday while also acquiring a right-handed prospect to complete the Jimmy Cordero trade with the Nationals. They also made the additions of Daniel Nava and Sean Burnett official.

Florimon, 30, is a former Orioles top prospect and has 256 games of big league experience, hitting just .200 with 62 RBIs and 197 strikeouts. He can play pretty much any position in the infield and also has some experience as a corner outfielder in the minor league. Last season, Florimon spent most of the year with the Pirates Triple-A team. He finished with a .255 average, 36 RBIs and 14 steals. Florimon was the Twins everyday shortstop in 2013.

Gomez, 28, only has 83 games played in the Major Leagues. He has a .183 average in that time while holding a career minor league average of .259. He didn't play with any team last season, but hit .258 in Triple-A back in 2015. Gomez played 66 games with the Brewers during 2015 as well, hitting .181 in 127 at-bats.

Sanchez, 22, was dealt to the Phillies on Monday to complete the trade with the Nationals that sent former top prospect Jimmy Cordero to Washington's system. Last season in High 'A' ball, Sanchez went 5-0 with a 3.46 ERA in 32 appearances. He holds a 3.89 ERA since joining the Nationals organization in the Dominican Summer League back in 2012.
