Phillies Slip Below .500 in Frustrating Loss

Two men continued their impressive 2013 campaigns. Kyle Kendrick dialed up another quality start and Domonic Brown was pretty much the offense tonight, driving in three runs.  The rest of the team looked as they have all season. Streaky.

Brown got to Gorzelanny early with a home run but Jean Segura would tie it up with a bomb of his own. Both teams would struggle for much for a few innings but in the 6th, the Brewers got to Kendrick for a few more runs. Michael Stutes would let up another in a shaky 7th and while Brown added a few more, it was too little too late. The Phillies lost what was essentially a bullpen game for the Brewers.

In the top of the 9th, Erik Kratz appeared to hurt his knee. It'll get checked out but obviously it means Humberto Quintero is starting catcher and if Kratz is DL'd the catching situation would become quite awful. All we can do is wait.

Phillies look to balance ut the series and the season again tomorrow afternoon. Jonathan Pettibone squares off against former Phillie Kyle Lohse.

ZAMBRANO WATCH

Carlos Zambrano continued to make a case to join the big leagues in an impressive 6 inning performance giving up three hits, a run, walking three, and striking out seven.
