Final: Phillies 6, Marlins 2
MIAMI—After a dreadful 0-6 homestand featuring a sweep by the last-place Atlanta Braves, the Phillies started off their road trip in the right direction.
They posted three runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh to beat the Miami Marlins in a Labor Day matinee, the first of three games in Miami before the Phillies head out to our nation's capital to battle the first-place Nats.

Dee Gordon led off the Marlins' first with a triple, coming in to score on Ichiro's single into right-center. Ichiro moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on J. T. Realmuto's RBI single, giving Miami an early two-run lead.
There was nothing doing for either team until the top of the fifth, as Jerad Eickhoff and Jake Esch posted matching zeroes.
Esch, though, was undone in the fifth, his last inning. After Freddy Galvis ripped a ball deep to right but foul, he straightened one out for a deep two-run homer to right, Galvis' 16th of the year. Peter Bourjos followed with a triple and scored on an error from Miguel Rojas at short to put the Phillies ahead. Esch left after five innings.
The Phillies added some insurance in the seventh; after a walk and two errors by reliever Austin Brice put runners on second and third with nobody out, Bourjos delivered an RBI single, then stole second. Jimmy Paredes, pinch-hitting for Eickhoff, ripped a ball into right for a two-run single to put the Phillies up 6-2.
Edubray Ramos, Hector Neris, and Jeanmar Gómez combined to keep the Marlins scoreless in the seventh, eighth and ninth as the Phillies snapped a six-game skid. Phillies pitching sat down 15 straight Marlins to end the game.
Adam Morgan takes on José Ureña on Tuesday night at 7:10 p.m.
