Phillies Starter Jonathan Pettibone Likely Done For the Year

The box score of Jonathan Pettibone's rehab start on Sunday for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs looked like a lot of his starts in the major leagues.  Pettibone went six innings and allowed three earned runs.  The Iron Pigs' offense resembled the Phillies offense in many of his starts and Pettibone took the loss.  However, there is an other story to tell.

Last night late, Kevin Cooney of the Bucks County Courier Times passed on some news: That could be the end for Pettibone in 2013:

The Phillies are currently pitching Ethan Martin and Tyler Cloyd in the starting rotation and could have used Pettibone's help soon.  As of yesterday the starter for Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks was listed as "TBA", leaving room for Pettibone to make a start on what would have been his regular turn.  Now it looks like Cloyd could get another shot.

Roy Halladay also pitched on Tuesday, but has been announced as Sunday's starter in AA Reading as he continues his rehab.
