During last night's 15-5 Phillies loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, left-handed reliever Elvis Araujo entered the game with the Phillies still within reach of the Dodgers. That quickly changed. Between Araujo's own batters and the ones that Michael Mariot inherited on the bases, Araujo was responsible for six earned runs in just one-third of an inning. The Phillies decided afterwards to make a change.

The Phillies added Frank Herrmann as a minor league free agent prior to the season. But due to an injury, Herrmann did not play in any Spring Training games and did not pitch for the IronPigs until May 24. After compiling a 6-1 record with just a 1.72 earned run average, Herrmann will try to make up for a lack of effective left-handed relievers on the Phillies Major League squad in 2016.
Herrmann has 95 games under his belt for the Cleveland Indians. In his Major League career, Herrmann is 4-1 with a 4.26 earned run average with one save. Herrmann last appeared in the Major Leagues in 2012.
The Phillies will need to make a spot on the 40-man roster for Herrmann. That move has not been announced as of yet.
