CLEARWATER, Fla. — With just hours before the first spring training game of the 2016 season, Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco is already causing damage off the swing of his bat – just not the expected way, however.
During batting practice Tuesday morning, the 23-year-old hit a home run that broke the windshield of shortstop Freddy Galvis' black Dodge Charger.
All of this could have been avoided, however, had utility infielder Cesar Hernandez not taken Galvis' parking spot this morning, notes Ryan Lawrence of Philly Voice.
Franco is batting third this afternoon, playing third base. Being "locked in" as the Opening Day shortstop, according to MLB.com, Galvis is batting ninth.
