Just a few days after ESPN's Keith Law ranked Phillies top prospect J.P. Crawford as the #4 overall in baseball, the 20-year-old shortstop has been promoted to Double-A Reading to join the likes of Roman Quinn, Aaron Nola, Zach Eflin, Tom Windle, Ben Lively and others.

After sitting out the first month and change of the season with an oblique injury, Crawford slashed .392/.494/.446 in 20 games with the Phillies Advanced 'A' affiliate in Clearwater. Though Crawford's average is hovering around .400, it can be noted that he has just two extra-base hits since returning from his injury. Last season in the minors, Crawford hit 23 doubles and 11 home runs.
This season, Crawford is hitting .333 against lefties and .432 against right handers. Over his last 10 games, he's hitting .368 (14-for-38) with nine runs scored, six walks and six strikeouts. In his final game with Clearwater on Friday night, Crawford went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base.
