The Phillies made a move on Friday to promote top shortstop prospect J.P. Crawford to AAA.  The move meant that the Phillies simply had too many infielders at AAA Lehigh Valley.  Thus, the Phillies made a trade with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to free up a space for Crawford.

Stephen Gross of the Allentown Morning Call reports that the Phillies have sent infielder Ryan Jackson to the Angels in exchange for cash considerations.   Jackson spent part of 2015 with the Angels at the minor league level.  Former Angels assistant general manager Matt Klentak added Jackson to the Phillies fold after coming over from the Angels.

Jackson was batting .214 in 30 games for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in 2016.
