Phillies trade RHP Chris Leroux to Blue Jays

The Philadelphia Phillies traded right-handed pitcher Chris Leroux to the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, the Blue Jays announced on Twitter

Zach Links of MLB Trade Rumors was the first to report that the two sides were going to make the trade involving the reliever.

According to BaseballBetsy.com, the Philles had planned to send Leroux to extended Spring Training, so this will give him an opportunity to be closer to potentially pitching in the big leagues.

Leroux, 31, was acquired by the Phillies last May in a trade from the Pittsburgh Pirates, but never pitched at the major league level for the team. His last big-league appearance came in 2014, when he pitched in two games for the New York Yankees. In just over 70 career innings of work, Leroux has a 4.20 ERA and a 4.40 FIP, per Fangraphs
