On Wednesday afternoon, the Philadelphia Phillies released their schedule for the 2017 season. They will open the year on April 3 against the Reds in Cincinnati, just how they began the 2016 season, for a three-game series. The Phillies home opener will be against the Washington Nationals on Friday, April 7 at 3:05 p.m.

For 2017 Interleague play, the Phillies will host the Seattle Mariners (May 9-10), the Boston Red Sox (June 14-15), the Houston Astros (July 24-26) and the Oakland Athletics (September 15-17). Philadelphia will get an opportunity to face their former ace, Cole Hamels, in Texas when the team travels to Arlington from May 16-18. In addition, the Phils will make trips to Seattle, Boston and to Los Angeles for a series with the Angels for Interleague action.

June 5 will mark the Phillies first trip to the new Atlanta Braves stadium, SunTrust Park, for a four-game series. The All-Star Break in Miami, Florida is set for July 10-12 at Marlins Park.

Outside of the Phillies, Major League Baseball scheduled a traditional doubleheader for the first time in six years. The Oakland Athletics and Tampa Bay Rays will play a twinbill on June 10 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
