Phillies Video: Harry Kalas Reads ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas
By Tim Kelly, Sports Talk Philly editor
Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame announcer Harry Kalas has a few moments during broadcasting career that help define him. Kalas delivered a tear-jerking monologue prior to the Phillies first game after 9/11. His most famous call is probably the final out of the 2008 World Series. But at this time of year, another moment from Kalas' broadcasting career stands out.
Kalas did a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to a group of children, a video that is a must watch every Christmas Eve, put together by CBS3/CW Philly:
Perhaps this video is so special to many of us because Kalas was a comforting voice throughout our respective childhoods, but there's just something different about this reading of the classic night before Christmas story. Even with an entire young generation of Phillies fans now that weren't born yet when Kalas was the team's announcer, this video has stood the test of time.
No matter what holiday you celebrate in December, those of us at Sports Talk Philly wish you and yours a joyous season.
