Are we back in 1997? |
Why are we still writing about this team? I don't know, but I don't ever stop caring. Even at 36-40, even when Karma finally bit us and convinced us that we stunk, after losses to the Mets.
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (36-40, NL East-3) @ SAN DIEGO PADRES (38-38, NL West-4)
WHEN: MONDAY-WEDNESDAY, 10:10 PM.
WHERE: Petco Field
TV: CSN
PITCHING MATCH-UPS:
Monday- Cliff Lee (9-2, 2.53) vs. Eric Stults (6-5, 3.25)
Tuesday- Kyle Kendrick (6-4, 3.56) vs. Jason Marquis (9-2, 3.59)
Wednesday- Cole Hamels (2-11, 4.50) vs. TBD
ABOUT THE PADRES: They've exceeded expectations so far this year. They're almost halfway through the season, and yet they're .500.
ABOUT THE PHILLIES: And so yeah, none of the teams in Philadelphia have been .500 since the Phillies last finished so, last season. That trend might be continuing.
PREDICTIONS: Mediocrity meet better mediocrity. I still feel in my heart that the Phillies are better than these guys, but my mind says no. PADRES 2 OF 3.
PHILLIES @ LOS ANGELES DODGERS (32-42, NL West-5)
WHEN: Thursday-Saturday at 10:10, Sunday at 4:10
WHERE: Dodgers Stadium
TV: CSN Thursday-Saturday, PHL 17 on Sunday
PITCHING MATCH-UPS:
Thursday- Jon Pettibone (3-3, 4.14) vs. Zack Greinke (4-2, 3.79)

Saturday- Lee vs. Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-3, 2.96)
Sunday- Kendrick vs. Stephen Fife (1-2, 3.25)
ABOUT THE DODGERS: Can you be a bigger disappointment? No, you really can't. Record smashing payroll, last place team.
ABOUT THE PHILLIES: Well, it's possible that Carlos Zambrano gets called up here, which is funny and interesting. I'm pulling for him to get the call.
PREDICTIONS: Well, someone has to win the series…. unless you add a fourth game to it. For suck-ness sakes, this is awful. SPLIT.
