The Phillies season is at a crossroads, sitting at 27-30 on the year right now. This week could be make or break.
MIAMI MARLINS (16-41, NL East-5) @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (27-30, NL East-3)
WHERE: Citizens Bank Park
WHEN: Monday and Tuesday at 7:05, Wednesday at 1:05
TV: CSN for all
PITCHING MATCH-UPS:
Monday- Tom Koehler (0-3, 3.22) vs. Kyle Kendrick (5-3, 3.27)
Tuesday- Ricky Nolasco (3-6, 3.69) vs. Jon Pettibone (3-1, 3.64)
Wednesday- Jacob Turner (1-0, 0.00) vs. Cole Hamels (1-9, 4.86)
ON THE MARLINS- Well, they stink. They have 40 losses. But, they have 4 wins against us. They also just swept out the Mets in Miami. In other words, maybe the kids are finding their legs right now.
ON THE PHILLIES- Where would this team be without Dom Brown? I seriously don't know. He's been that amazing. The team hasn't though. If this isn't a big week, it will only increase the drumbeat for Ruben to blow up the group as the deadline approaches. They clearly are not the 2011 team anymore.
PREDICTION- Write off Wednesday, as sad as that sounds. Cole is in a mentally dark place right now, and facing someone we've got no book on. I'll still say PHILLIES 2 OF 3.
PHILLIES @ MILWAUKEE BREWERS (21-34, NL Central-5)
WHERE: Miller Park
WHEN: Thursday and Friday 8:10, Saturday 7:15, Sunday 2:10
TV: PHL 17 on Thursday and Sunday, CSN on Friday, and FOX on Saturday
PITCHING MATCH-UPS:
Thursday- Tyler Cloyd (1-2, 4.76) vs. Wily Peralta (4-6, 5.94)
Friday- Cliff Lee (7-2, 2.45) vs. Fiers (1-4, 7.25)
Saturday- Kyle Kendrick vs. Marco Estrada (4-3, 4.96)
Sunday- Jon Pettibone vs. Kyle Lohse (1-6, 4.37)
ON THE PHILLIES- See above.
ON THE BREWERS- Well, they're in last in the NL Central, but dammit, they did just beat us 2 of 3. I guess that's pretty pathetic for us.
PREDICTION- I'd love to say we'll win 3 or 4 games, but on what planet do I assume anything? No, we lose two. SPLIT.
