FINAL: Phillies 10, Brewers 9
Aaron Nola didn't get out of the fifth inning on Sunday in Milwaukee. The Phillies' ace turned in his shortest start of the season as the Phils played the NL Central's first-place team on the road in a pivotal matchup, with each team vying for a series win.
Nola's uncharacteristic outing proved not to matter. For once, the Phillies' offense carried the day, hanging ten runs on the Brewers. Nola was picked up by his club as the Phillies took Sunday's game and the series. Milwaukee cut a five-run lead to one in the bottom of the ninth, but stopped there.

Rhys Hoskins remained on fire since being activated from the disabled list, socking a two-run homer off Brewers starter Chase Anderson in the top of the first. Eric Thames took Nola deep to right-center to lead off the bottom of the inning, getting a run back.
In the third, Milwaukee tied the game as Lorenzo Cain doubled Christian Yelich home from first base. Maikel Franco promptly put the Phillies up two runs again with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth.
Cain walked, Travis Shaw doubled him home, and Jesús Aguilar blooped a single into right to tie the game again. Nola came out of the game and Tommy Hunter finished the inning.
Nick Williams' two-run single up the middle off reliever Jeremy Jeffress put the Phils in front again in the sixth. A Yelich sac fly off Adam Morgan, who came in when Hunter put men on the corners in the bottom of the inning, halved the deficit.
Franco came through in a big spot in the seventh, ripping a two-run single off Taylor Williams to push the lead to three runs. Scott Kingery came off the bench for a two-hit day, including an RBI double in the eighth. Odúbel Herrera cracked a homer in the top of the ninth.
Milwaukee threatened in the last of the ninth against Héctor Neris as Aguilar homered to make it 10-6. Hernán Pérez doubled to put two men in scoring position. With two away, Thames ripped his second home run of the game, a three-run shot to cut the lead to one run.
Yelich, facing Jake Thompson, hit a ball to the track in center field on the first pitch, but Herrera ran it down. It gave the Phillies the narrowest of wins in a game that shouldn't have been quite so close.
The St. Louis Cardinals come to Philadelphia to meet the Phillies beginning Monday. Nick Pivetta will face right-hander Miles Mikolas, who has impressed in his first year back in MLB after a stint in Japan, at 7:05 p.m.
