Phils Crush Five Homers Against Baltimore in 13-4 Victory
A gorgeous day in Sarasota, Florida brought about an onslaught of hits and runs against the Baltimore Orioles. Aaron Cook started this afternoon's ballgame against Wei-Yin Chen.
The Phils took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With Jimmy Rollins on base, Chase Utley launched his first home run of this game over the wall in left field. Ryan Howard followed with a solo home run to left.
In the top of the third with two men on, Domonic Brown singled to bring home Rollins. To follow, Michael Young was able to score on a single from John Mayberry. 5-0 Phils.
With Ben Revere on base in the top of the fourth, Utley went yard again to make it a 7-0 ballgame. Later in the inning with Young and Howard on base, Domonic Brown crushed a ball to send it over the wall in left for a three-run homer. 10-0 Phillies.
The Orioles put up two runs in their half of the fourth after J.J. Hardy doubled to bring home Chris Davis and Matt Wieters. 10-2.
With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Aaron Cook was taken out for Phillippe Amount. Cook's line: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K. Aumont struck out his only batter in the fifth.
In the bottom of the sixth with Aumont still on the mound, Brian Roberts was able to score on a wild pitch. Phillies still leading, 10-3.
With two men on base in the top of the seventh, Yuniesky Betancourt sent them home with a three-run homer to left, making it the fifth homer of the afternoon. 13-3 Phils.
Antonio Bastardo pitched a perfect bottom of the seventh, striking out one. Mike Adams came in for the bottom of the eighth and allowed one run to score; Jason Pridie scored on a double from Ryan Flaherty. 13-4 ballgame.
J.C. Ramirez came in for the Phils to close it out. Ramirez collected the first two outs before allowing three straight singles to load the bases. The game ended on a pop-up which sent the Phils to a 13-4 win.
Boston will play the Phillies a visit tomorrow afternoon in Clearwater at 1:05.
