The Phillies were led offensively by Domonic Brown (2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) in last night's 9-7 win. For the second straight game the Phils beat out the NL Central-leading Brewers. Kyle Kendrick surrendered 7 earned runs but it was not enough as the Phils we're able to mount 9 (including a 5-run second inning that followed up a Brewers 5-run first).

The Phillies will go for the series win tonight as they also look to notch their third-straight W. On the hill for the Phils will be Roberto Hernandez (3-8, 4.48 ERA), who will oppose Kyle Lohse (9-3, 3.18 ERA) in game three tonight.

Roberto Hernandez struggled immensely in his last start. On Friday against the Pirates, the Bucs tagged Hernandez for 5 earned runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. Hernandez struggled with his command, which has become a constant issue with he veteran righty, as he walked four hitters. Over his last three starts, Hernandez has walked 10 while he has struck out 11 in 18 2/3 innings. In his career against the Brewers, Hernandez is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA.

Kyle Lohse has had an all-star first half of the season. He's gone 9-3 and held hitters to a .239 average and has struck out 87 batters. The only thing is, Lohse wasn't selected to the All-star team this year. Lohse is coming off of a loss against Cincinnati on Friday. The lefty tossed five innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits. In his last three outings, Lohse is 1-1 and has struck out 15 batters compared to 6 walks. In his career against Philadelphia, Lohse is 5-4 with a 3.12 ERA.

Game Notes:

  • The Phillies snapped their streak of 13 straight games of scoring five or less runs last night.

  • 13 of Kyle Lohse's 19 starts have been quality starts and the Brewers have gone 13-5 in games he starts.

  • In their last 19 four-game series, the Phillies are 3-7-9.
