Last night Zach Eflin helped end a lengthy amount of time since the Phillies last took a game at PNC Park (July 4, 2013) with his complete game masterpiece. Today Aaron Nola looks to continue his own recent success after very much looking back on track on Monday, firing six shut out frames against Miami. After really struggling at the end of the first half it was an encouraging sign and one hopes he can build off of that and last night's win.
Facing him is top pitching prospect for the Pirates, Tyler Glasnow who is making just his second big league start. In his MLB debut back on July 7, the Cardinals handed him a loss as he went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs. Though Glasnow has been dominant for Triple-A Indianapolis this season with a 1.94 ERA and the future looks really bright for the young pitcher. It's a great match up of young pitchers that continues tomorrow with Velasquez vs. Jameson Taillon.
Lineup wise, things are similar to last night save for Andres Blanco who filled it for Maikel Franco last night who left with a wrist injury. X-rays were negative so it appears it's just a day to day issue for Franco and he should be back in the lineup soon.
