This may have been the most challenging week to pick a Player and Play of the Week. The Flyers played three games, lost all three, and scored a combined two goals.
Things are bad, clearly.
That said, there is one player who had a solid week, all things considered, because he is a piece of the future.
Our Player of the Week is Shayne Gostisbehere. Gostisbehere scored his first NHL goal on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings.
Gostisbehere's goal, which came on the power play, is also our Play of the Week. This seems like something Flyers fans can get used to seeing, a power-play point shot that happened to beat one of the NHL's best goalies, Jonathan Quick.
The Flyers are in action four times this week, at home against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday, on the road to face the New York Islanders on Wednesday, hosting the Nashville Predators on Friday afternoon and traveling to face the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
