Looks like you'll have to save your "All Polanco does is hit" tweets for the time being, Phillies fans. The Phillies have placed Placido Polanco on the 15 day DL with back inflammation. The move is retroactive to July 5, so technically Polanco could be back by late next week. It should be a concern, of course, moving forward that Polanco could be dealing with back pain for the rest of the season, joining 4th ace Roy Oswalt.

With that bad but not surprising news comes some good news. Ryan Madson was activated from the DL today. He'll rejoin a very young Phillies bullpen at the moment with Brad Lidge and Jose Contreras still being out. His return helps the Phillies out tremendously, as he, Michael Stutes and Antonio Bastardo make for a great 1-2-3 punch in the late innings.
