It has more to do with the bad cold I've been fighting all week than the quality of baseball (I'll watch anyone play the sport, no matter how brutal) but I've shut every game off early this week with an idea how they'd all end. What can you say? They made it interesting but when they had a real chance to make it interesting, they fell short. The winter should be very aggressive.
That being said, there are still games to play. One positive would be Darin Ruf's brief time in the show, hitting some quality big league pitching. It'll be interesting to see how he fits into the future plans.
Phillies head to Miami tonight and send Cliff Lee to the mound to face Mark Buehrle which is a nice pitching match up. When you add up all the Phillies problems, I'm glad they were spared the drama of Miami's season. An aggressive offseason, a new stadium, and they're a last place team. Their TV show was even cancelled! Ozzie Guillen, through it all, was one guy I thought might get a mulligan but I'm fairly certain he doesn't with how the season has ended. I did watch one of the episodes of the show and it seem like the only one who cared about anything was Greg Dobbs. Awful season which should end with lots of people getting canned.
Lee's pitched very well lately which is encouraging after a pretty rough start to the year. I'm not a W/L guy and the numbers are very good but it's clear that the confidence in the late innings wasn't there for a while. He's pitched some great ball lately and is a strong bet for a nice season next year.
