Preseason Game 3 Preview: Flyers host Islanders again

For the third time in four preseason games, the Flyers and Islanders will take the ice against one another.

The puck hits the ice a little early on Friday night, in light of the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia, with the opening face-off at Wells Fargo Center taking place at 6 p.m.

Unlike Tuesday’s game, fans will see Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek take the ice at Wells Fargo Center for the first time.

The lineup also includes defensemen Shayne Gostisbehere and Robert Hagg.

Notable exclusions from the lineup include Mark Streit and Sean Couturier.

While the Flyers only have two goalies remaining in camp, backup Michal Neuvirth will start between the pipes for the Orange and Black.

The Islanders lineup will be short-handed as part of another split-squad evening. The Islanders are also playing the New Jersey Devils.

This is the fourth of seven preseason games for the Flyers. They will be on the road on Monday against the Rangers and Friday against the Devils, while closing out the home portion of the preseason against the Devils on Wednesday.

The game was slated to feature 3-on-3 overtime, regardless of the score. However, in light of the Pope's visit, the Flyers and Islanders will not play overtime unless the game is tied.
