Public Memorial for Ed Snider set for April 21

The Flyers are set to embark on their playoff run on Thursday, three days after the passing of their founder and owner Ed Snider at age 83.

The Flyers are starting to announce plans to honor Mr. Snider. Not long after his passing on Monday, the team announced that they will wear special patches on their uniforms honoring Snider and that tributes were in the works for prior to Monday's Game 3 against the Washington Capitals.

Also in the works was a public memorial to be held at Wells Fargo Center. That is now official, and will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 1 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors to Wells Fargo Center will open at 11:30 a.m.

The Flyers will play home games against the Washington Capitals on Monday and Wednesday before honoring the "Father of Flyers hockey."

No further details have been provided about the memorial other than date and time.
