Quiet Night After Quiet Bats, Bullpen Embarrass the Phillies
I am testing out my new iPhone app to write this so I apologize if it comes out a little weird.
After last night's demoralizing loss to the Colorado Rockies, the atmosphere online was eerily quiet. The beat writers and presumably the players were all silent.
The storyline was the same: poor offense, poor bullpen, Phillies lose. The Phillies' website had a positive headline about Cliff Lee pitching a quality start, but as usual that meant nothing.
While fans are happy to have old favorites Chase Utley and Ryan Howard back in the lineup, anyone would be foolish to think that either of them would be back to productive form right away. Bat them third and fourth, respectively, and throw .242 disappointment Shane Victorino ahead of them in the lineup, what do you expect?
Some fans on our Facebook page Baseball Talk Philadelphia remain very optimistic and still believe. However, the manager and the players give us very little reason to be.
