The Eagles continued their coaching search on Tuesday by holding their third interview for the vacant head coaching position and first with a coach from outside the organization.
Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase interviewed on Tuesday and, apparently, things must have gone pretty well. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Gase is getting a second interview with the team this weekend.
Gase is interviewing with both the Browns and Dolphins later this week as well.
It was an unimpressive year for the Chicago offense in Gase's first season as offensive coordinator, but Gase is regarded for getting Jay Cutler's career back on track with a solid season.
At 37, Gase is among the youngest coordinators in football, which makes him an even more attractive name in coaching searches.
Gase also spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos as offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014. He had been a coach with the Broncos prior to that since 2009 and has been a coach in the NFL since 2003. He spent the three seasons prior as a graduate assistant and recruiting assistant for LSU.
There are currently no other confirmed interviews for the Eagles. The team was rumored to be bringing in former Bills coach Doug Marrone, but have since denied that there is interest, and is rumored to have interest in Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, but have no impending interview scheduled yet. Running back coach Duce Staley and offensive coordinator and interim head coach Pat Shurmur have already interviewed for the position.
