It has been a whirlwind couple of days since Ben Detrick of The Ringer released an investigative piece exploring an anonymous tip about secret twitter accounts that were connected to Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo.

Colangelo has denied the report that he used burner twitter accounts to comment on the team and praise himself – although not publicly.

The Sixers have launched and independent investigation into the matter, but a more public investigation conducted by Sixers fans on twitter has seemingly absolved Colangelo of the accusation and instead concluded that it was Colangelo’s wife – Barbara Bottini –  who was using the accounts to criticize members of the team.

Now with an apparent connection to the purported twitter accounts, Colangelo’s role with the team is in jeopardy.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN said today on Sportscenter that “[Colangelo’s] in a fight for his job and that may continue through the weekend.”

Additionally, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer suggested that Sixers special advisor Jerry Colangelo is arguing in favor of his son Bryan.

Pompey writes “Sixers special advisor Jerry Colangelo could be fighting for his son’s job. After all, Jerry Colangelo, who is widely respected around the league, may think the Sixers owe him because he stepped in when they hired him during 2015-16 season.”

Pompey added that league sources do not believe that it is likely that Colangelo remains with the Sixers organization after the investigation concludes.
