LAS VEGAS — Croatian forward Dario Saric is expected to make his move to the NBA official by signing his contract with the Philadelphia 76ers when he meets his teammates at the Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Pompey writes:
The power forward’s deadline to get out of his contract with Andolu Efes of the Turkish Super Basketball League is next Sunday. The Sixers are still working on that with him. However, that shouldn’t be a problem.
The Croatian standout scheduled to fly back to his native country after the signing the contract to prepare for the Rio Olympics.
Saric, 22, was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turin, averaging 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He averaged 11.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game over 24 games last season with Anadolu Efes.
After being selected 12th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, Saric was acquired by Philadelphia, along with a 2015 second-round pick and a future first-round pick, in exchange for No. 10 overall selection guard Elfrid Payton.
The Samsung NBA Summer League runs from July 8-18.
