Earlier today, reports surfaced that the Eagles and Dolphins were discussing a trade that would send cornerback Byron Maxwell to Miami. Now, it seems like the organization may be trying to rid themselves of more Chip Kelly era players with the NFL Network reporting that two Eagles running backs are on the market.

While we are all too familiar with Murray's situation, whether he wants to stay in Philadelphia or not, Mathews' name hasn't been brought up at all this offseason. Mathews, 28, has been through a variety of injury issues throughout his career, but he put together some nice games for the Eagles last season, rushing for 539 yards on 106 carries, good for a 5.1 yards per carry number. Mathews' best game was back in September against the Jets, when the former Charger rushed for 108 yards on 24 carries. The Eagles signed him to a three-year contract this past offseason worth $11.5 million with $7.5 of that guaranteed.
Murray, on the other hand, has a much bigger salary with four years remaining on his five-year contract that includes over $20 million in guaranteed money. At the end of February, it was reported that Murray was still unhappy in Philadelphia, but according to Howie Roseman, the 28-year-old back expressed his interest in remaining with the Eagles, despite reports that say otherwise.
"My last conversation with him was just that," Roseman said on PFT on NBC Sports Radio on Friday. "That he wants to be here and this is the place he wants to have a tremendous amount of success like he had in Dallas.
"I think sometimes we forget a year ago at this time he’s coming off the NFL offensive player of the year. I mean that’s a tremendous honor, tremendous accomplishment to be able to do that and we’re not talking about five, six years ago. We’re talking about one year ago."
Murray averaged just 3.6 yards per carry and rushed for under 800 yards just one year after putting up phenomenal numbers for the Cowboys.
