The injury forced the running back to leave Wednesday's practice, but later tests confirmed that the injury was nothing more than a "hamstring tweak." Still, the Eagles wanted to be cautious with Murray due to the nature of hamstring injuries and the risk of further injury.
However, it appears the Eagles and Murray are confident that the injury is nothing to be majorly concerned about. The 27-year-old has struggled to find running room through the first two games of the season, averaging just half a yard per carry.
The Jets' defense has been average against the run early on this season. Their 3.8 yards allowed per attempt ranks 15th in the NFL, while their 98.5 yards allowed per game ranks 14th.
The Eagles' offensive line has struggled to open up holes for the running backs and will try to right the ship Sunday. On Wednesday, center Jason Kelce stressed the importance of the offensive line being able to block and push defenders off the line of scrimmage, no matter who's running the ball.
"DeMarco's a great player," Kelce told ESPN. "But I think we also have two other great backs who can get the job done. Bottom line is, whoever is carrying the ball behind us, we have to do a better job up front blocking. As long as we can take care of the line of scrimmage and do what we need to do, we'll make hay in the run game."
