Nearly four years after he played quarterback against the Philadelphia Eagles in Nick Foles' seven-touchdown performance, the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly interested in Cleveland Browns free-agent wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland Advance Media, the Eagles are among a slew of teams already showing interest in the 27-year-old:
Terrelle Pryor is drawing interest from the Giants, 49ers, Titans and Eagles as the free agency two-day negotiating window opens on Tuesday at noon, league sources told cleveland.com.
In 2016, which was his first full season as wide receiver, Pryor had 77 catches for 1,007 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In the Eagles' 29-10 win over the Browns in Week 1, Pryor had three catches for 68 yards.
While Pryor is an intriguing free-agent because of his obvious raw athletic ability, there's certainly some red flags that come with him. Traditionally, signing free-agents from bad teams, and Pryor's been with a few poorly run organizations, doesn't work out especially well. Secondly, the Browns have the cap space to potentially retain Pryor, so if they allowed him to walk when he seemingly just scratched the surface of what he's capable of at wide receiver, that wouldn't be encouraging. Numerous former teammates have also spoken out against Pryor in the last calendar year, including Adam "Pacman" Jones.
Pryor is likely just one of the many free-agent wide receivers that the Eagles will show interest in. Remember, showing interest in the legal tampering window guarantees next to nothing. The team will likely show interest in Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson and Kenny Stills, among others, during this window. This window allows teams to negotiate with potential free-agents and potentially work out contracts in principle. No deal can officially be signed until March 9 at 4 p.m. ET.
Cabot also mentioned the New York Giants as a team that would be interested in Pryor, which could be especially scary when you consider that he would be lining up across from Odell Beckham Jr. and the Giants also finally seemed to find an effective running-back last year in Paul Perkins. The Giants could be showing interest in hopes of driving the price of Pryor up, which would either put him out of the Eagles' price range or force them to allocate more money to signing him.
