The Eagles added wide receiver Markus Wheaton on Wednesday and shortly after the announcement of that addition a report broke that the Eagles are also adding a free agent quarterback.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that the Eagles are signing former Green Bay Packers backup Joe Callahan:
Eagles expected to sign QB Joe Callahan, source says. The Absecon (NJ) native was waived by the Packers on Monday. Eagles also explored signing JT Barrett before he signed with the Saints. With Carson Wentz iffy for the preseason, Callahan could get plenty of reps.

Garafolo notes that the eagles were rebuffed by former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett when they pursued the undrafted free agent
Callahan – born in Cape May, New Jersey – attended Wesley College in Dover, Delware which has a Division III athletic program. Callahan went undrafted in 2016 but then found himself in Green Bay after the Packers signed him as an undrafted free agent.
The Packers waived the local product on Monday and now he will enter camp in a similar position to the one that Matt McGloin held last preseason. McGloin was the benficiary of a nagging injury to Nick Foles last offseason and received ample work in preseason with the chance to impress quarterback needy teams. Callahan will get the same opportunity with Carson Wentz's status for preseason in doubt following a season-ending knee injury late last season.
