After releasing Miles Austin during the 2015 season and Riley Cooper after the season, the Philadelphia Eagles' receiving corps is rather thin on bodies. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the team had quite a bit of interest in Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey before he re-signed with the team.
In addition to their trade machinations, Eagles also had significant interest in WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, who ended up re-signing w/Steelers

Heyward-Bey instead agreed to a three-year deal with Steelers, though the deal was announced after the 12 p.m. legal tampering window began, so it's possible that the Eagles were at least able to contact his representatives before he re-signed with the Steelers.
The 29-year-old former first-round pick had 21 catches for 314 yards in 2015. In his seven seasons in the league, he's caught 193 passes for 2,727 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Heyward-Bey would seem to have been a depth piece, rather than the Eagles looking to improve their starting receivers. It's unclear whether the Eagles will target any of the top-tier receivers — not that there are many — in free-agency, given how their receiving corps took a step back after the loss of Jeremy Maclin in free-agency last year.
