Report: Former LSU RB Derrius Guice visiting Eagles

By Josh Liddick, Sports Talk Philly editor

After making moves in free agency, the Eagles will soon turn their attention to the NFL Draft, where there are holes to fill, and then there are players that would be nice to have because they fit the system.

While the Eagles will be working with running backs Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement for sure next season, a third back is extremely ideal in Duce Staley's system. Top running back prospect and LSU product Derrius Guice will be coming to Philadelphia for a meeting with the team.

Of 30 NFL prospects visiting the Eagles before the Draft on April 26, Guice will be one of them, according to Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com.

After working out for the Tampa Bay Bucs yesterday, LSU running back Derrius Guice will be meeting the Indianapolis Colts in Baton Rouge before jetting off to see the Philadelphia Eagles for an official visit. I’m told Eagles running back coach Duce Staley is a big supporter of Guice.

Duce Staley isn't the only notable person in football to have high praise for Guice. NFL.com's Mike Mayock only has Penn State running back Saquon Barkley ranked higher of this year's running back class.

Guice had 3,074 yards on 471 attempts with 29 rushing touchdowns during his three years at Baton Rouge. He had 32 receptions for 250 yards and three touchdowns receiving during his career.

At 5'10", 212 lbs., Lance Zierlein of NFL.com has Guice's draft comp to Marshawn Lynch, which would act as a replacement for LeGarette Blount, who will almost definitely find himself playing for another football team in 2018.

Who knows what the Eagles have up their sleeve for their first round pick at No. 32, but you have to wonder if their best bet would be an offensive lineman, in order to find a suitable replacement for the aging Jason Peters.
