The details regarding the Nick Foles/Sam Bradford swap have not been revealed yet, causing most of Philadelphia to end up in a state of panic. Are we getting the #10 pick? If not, does that mean we are stuck with Sam Bradford as our starting quarterback?
All of this will be answered in due course. But in the meantime, check out this interesting story from the Bleacher Report's Jason Cole back in February:
"This is really fascinating because there are teams that are sitting at the top of the draft, according to executives that I’ve talked to, who would believe that they would prefer to have Sam Bradford, who’s 27 and coming off basically missing the last year and a half of his career — that they would rather have then take a chance on, say, somebody like Marcus Mariota or Jamies Winston because they have seen what Bradford can do. One caveat to this is: is Bradford healthy or not coming off of two ACL surgeries? But the belief is: take a shot with Bradford and save your first round draft pick and take somebody else."
It's a little shocking that teams would actually be interested in a guy that has a 58.6% career completion percentage, has thrown 59 touchdowns, 38 interceptions and is 18-30-1 in 49 career NFL starts.
But if true, this puts the Sam Bradford trade into proper context. Perhaps the Eagles have spoken to teams at the top of the draft like the Bucs and Titans, as has widely been reported, and have learned that they would be more amenable to a deal if it included Sam Bradford.
We will keep you updated as things develop.
