Acoording to Jordan Schultz of HuffPost Sports and Bleacher Report, UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball will not be the Los Angeles Lakers' selection at second overall at the draft later this month:
Per source, the #Lakers would pass on Lonzo Ball if #nbadraft was today. Team isn't convinced he's a star and remains concerned about LaVar.

Per source, re Lonzo Ball: "It's not even close right now. Ball won't be a Laker unless they really start 2 buy into him as a star." #lakers

Per @ramonashelburne, Lonzo Ball will work out with the #lakers on June 7. Needless to say, both workout and interview process must be gr8.

This news follows reports that Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox has surpassed Ball in the eyes of multiple teams, and that Lonzo Ball must wow the Lakers to be their selection. It is not clear if the Lakers are favoring Fox, or another player over Ball at this time. Ball spent the majority of the season ranked as the best pure point guard entering the draft.
This news directly impacts the Sixers' draft plans.
It can be inferred that the Sixers are not sold on selecting Lonzo Ball after special advisor Jerry Colangelo publicly stated that the people around Lonzo Ball pose a "challenge" in drafting the point guard. Colangelo's son Bryan is currently the Sixers' general manager.
If the Sixers decide that Ball is not worth the risk at third overall they could select another player, or opt to trade down if there is a player that they favor over Ball.
There is a rumor circulating that the Sixers are interested in trading down to acquire Kentucky shooting guard Malik Monk, a player who fills the team's need for a reliable perimeter shooter.
The Sixers are also rumored to have interest in North Carolina State guard Dennis Smith Jr., who also should be available if the Sixers trade down.
Lonzo Ball and his camp have expressed a willingness to workout for the Sixers, after respectfully declining to workout for the Boston Celtics.
What do you think the Sixers should do if Lonzo Ball is on the board at third overall? Respond below:
